Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. - Galatians 6:7
Despite Paul’s warning, we all engage in self deception on a daily basis. Each human being has been endowed with three faculties: the ability to think, speak, and do. When any of these three elements are in misalignment, (when our words do not align with our thoughts, our actions do not align with our words etc) we make hypocrites out of ourselves. No one is innocent of this sin.
Most people would never outwardly mock God, and yet this is what each of us does inwardly every time we expect to reap that which we haven’t sown. Everything in our life is in our life for a reason, even if that reason is beyond our ability to understand. It is precisely this inability to understand that makes us human. To expect clear understanding at all times is to attempt to make ourselves equals with God, mocking Him.
Jesus already did everything we couldn’t. He made Himself equal with God, so that we could finally stop trying to. Our minds are but drops in the ocean when compared to the infinite wisdom of God. God is working in ways that we cannot see. Sometimes the only way to achieve mental clarity is to let go of the need to fully understand.
