Walking by Faith (2 Cor 5:7)

For we walk by faith not by sight - 2 Cor 5:7

Lord, we know that our eyes often deceive us. Things are not always as they seem. Despite our best efforts and best intentions to fill our lives with meaning, how often do we still find ourselves empty?

When sin entered the world it distorted our perceptions. We do not see clearly. We oftentimes mistake evil for good and falsity for truth. Our sight is in desperate need of healing. As medicine is drawn to the pain it must cure, You Jesus are drawn to those who humbly acknowledge their weakness to You.

You did not come to save the righteous but the sinners. As long as we see ourselves as righteous we cut ourselves off from your grace. The world tells us to focus on self love - to seek happiness at all costs. But You tell us to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness.

We cannot live for both the world and You. We must make a decision each day to bear our cross - a decision that the world sees as foolish. We must be willing to seem foolish in the sight of the world if it means being righteous in Your sight.

Our lives are founded on faith. We all trust in something that we cannot see. At the bottom of all of our logic is a principle that we take on faith. The most important question we will ever ask ourselves is "where do I place my faith?"

You Jesus are the only Place that our faith belongs. At the end of time, all false idols will crumble into dust but You will remain standing. You loved us so much that you came to earth and died on the cross to prove this all to us.

All who seek You will find You.

Lord help us seek You above all else.

Amen.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith - Hebrews 12:2

Heb. 11, wow! Verse 1 seems insane and yet it is truth and we are able to have a gift of faith that allows, even demands. the impossible. "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. " So, as I read this, the "big" words are "assurance" and "conviction".
