Without Me You Can do Nothing (John 15:5)

If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing - John 15:5

Everything good comes from God.

Everything evil comes from man.

When we do a good deed, it was God working in us.

When we do an evil deed, it was our own selfish desire working in us.

God is present in everything we do, whether we realize it or not.

If you've given joy to the heartbroken, God was working.

If you've given food to the hungry, God was working.

If you've given hope to the hopeless, God was working.

Every time we do good, we invite the Spirit to flow into our life.

Every time we do evil, we block the Spirit from flowing into our life.

Without Him there is nothing good, for He is goodness itself.

When we forget this truth, we are tempted to think the good we do comes from us.

Just as surely as night follows day, a great fall comes after this pride.

O Lord, reveal yourself to us in a powerful way.

You are the God of the universe. Nothing is impossible for you.

Except for perhaps one thing.

You cannot force us to love you.

You have given us this divine power of free will

Because without freedom, there can be no love

And without love, there can be no life.

For love is the only reason life exists.

This truth dwells within the depths of our souls, but how often do we forget it?

Lord remind us.

Amen.

The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want

- Psalm 23:1

another example of the humility of God. We are given free will so have to choose to love God
